How Phygital+ Helped Media Artist Aristarkh Chernishev
Transform a Major Shopping Mall
into an Art Space
About the Artist
Aristarkh Chernishev is a major figure in the world of media art and one of the pioneers of interactive art in Russia. His works are a unique blend of technology and nature, coming to life through multimedia installations showcased at exhibitions worldwide. Aristarkh is known for his experiments with artificial intelligence, DIY electronics, and 3D printing, creating projects that challenge the boundaries between the real and the digital. His installations adorn public spaces, including shopping center like "BoscoVesna" in Moscow.
Why do artists need
neural networks?
As an artist constantly pushing the boundaries of digital art, Aristarkh was looking for a tool that would allow him to realize his ideas about the synthesis of nature and technology on a single platform for integration into exhibition spaces. His new exhibition, “Technoorganic,” for the BoscoVesna shopping center, is dedicated to the synthesis of nature and technological innovations. However, there’s a challenge — he needs to quickly and easily generate visual images, enhance the quality of visuals for large installations, and create video effects for his interactive works.
Phygital+ as a Sandbox
for Experiments
Thanks to Phygital+, Aristarkh Chernishev was able to focus on creativity, using the platform as a single space for working with images and videos. Most importantly, it accelerated his workflow. All the tools were at his fingertips — Phygital+ became his personal sandbox for experimenting with art.
Training Own AI Models
As part of his work with Phygital+, Chernishev trains his own models using LoRA Train, customizing them to fit his unique artistic style. This allows him to create personalized visual solutions that reflect his creative identity, which he can use for both artistic projects and commercial purposes. The ability to train models on his own styles aids in content customization and precise visual representation, which is especially beneficial for artists and brands looking to emphasize their individuality.
Stable Diffusion XL
Stable Diffusion is a discovery for media artists when it comes to creating unique visual images where technology intertwines with natural elements. For example, for Aristarkh's sculptures and installations depicting anthropomorphic figures, Stable Diffusion XL quickly generated vibrant images suitable for large-scale installations that adorn the facades of shopping centers.
This series envisions the technology of the near future — one that is as close to natural technology as possible. Natural technology is waste-free: in nature, everything that appears and disappears is integrated back into a new cycle of life. I wish that human technologies could be like this—free from mountains of waste and enormous landfills, and instead self-replicating.

Upscale
For large-format prints and video installations like “Fluid Transformations,” the Upscale tool enabled the achievement of exceptional image quality, ensuring that visuals look flawless even on enormous screens and building facades.
Morph Video Effect
In Aristarkh's works, where conveying movement and the transformation of forms is crucial, the Morph Video Effect tool became one of the key elements. It allowed for the creation of smooth transitions and interactions between organic and technological elements in video format, perfectly complementing his installations in "Abstract Engineering."
Results
Phygital+ helped Aristarkh accelerate the process from idea to implementation, allowing him to experiment with new forms and structures without wasting time switching between different programs. This is especially important for his large-scale projects, such as "Technoorganics," where he needs to work simultaneously with various media. The platform enabled him to focus on what truly matters — art, rather than technical challenges.

Although the 3D and video capabilities in Phygital+ are currently limited, Aristarkh eagerly anticipates its expansion so he can work exclusively within a single platform without the need for external software.

Aristarkh's work with Phygital+ is a vivid example of how artificial intelligence and digital technologies can transform contemporary art.
Our collaboration with media artist Aristarkh Chernishev, “Technoorganics,” as part of our long-term initiative to create art projects in partnership with artists, continues to explore and reveal new original interpretations of the shopping center, as well as its functions and purposes. Our exhibitions demonstrate that a modern shopping center is much more than just a place for shopping. We are creating a space where visitors can not only discover new products from their favorite brands but also engage with contemporary art and artists, exploring new perspectives on pressing topics together with them.
